Sol + Sarah-Kate are such a beautiful and fun loving couple! We always have so much fun photographing our couples and love it when they have certain ideas for their engagement session, especially when they incorporate things from their personal lives! They were such a joy to work with and we can’t wait to be apart of their wedding day!
We started their engagement session in their cute and cozy apartment. It’s obvious that Sol and Sarah-Kate love spending time with each other enjoying a yummy cup of coffee while snuggling on the couch or even just relaxing and playing video games. Sarah-Kate had asked if it were OK if her and Sol could have their new puppy in a few pictures. We were stoked that she asked because we love dogs and their puppy was so cute, how could we resist??
We next traveled to the Paseo District in Oklahoma City. This was sentimental for Sarah-Kate, as she has a passion for art since she loves to paint. We walked around the streets and sidewalks enjoying the sunny sky and great weather while using the beautiful colors of the buildings as a great picturesque background!
We finished up the evening with Sol and Sarah-Kate with a wine picnic at Lake Hefner. We were so amazed how beautiful and dreamy the sunset was! The colors were so vivid across the horizon it was truly remarkable!
We love hearing the story of how our couples met and their proposal! Here is their story told by Sarah-Kate…
Sol and I met in class when we were both in college at Oklahoma State University! During the first few weeks our professor took us out on a field trip to collect soil samples (Environmental Science majors!) from his property. There were a total of 12 people in the class and I only knew two or three others. Anyhow, while we were in the field my friends and I were playfully throwing chunks of dirt clods at each other and I wanted to include Sol and a few others and I turned towards him and chunked a rather large piece at him. Unfortunately I smacked him right in the face (I know, I'm such the romantic!) and was praying to the good heavens that he would not hate me! Thankfully he chose to sit by me on the ride back to campus and I distinctly remember his gorgeous baby blue eyes! Needless to say after a few months of flirting in class and making excuses to meet up outside of class we finally told each other how crazy we were for the other over a plate of nachos at Fuzzies and the rest is history!
Our proposal story goes like this…Sol is a very private individual so we always discussed how the proposal would be pretty private and just between the two of us. So, with that back story, Sol intended on proposing during my birthday. Our plan was to go to dinner and ice skating in downtown OKC after we got off of work. Leading up to this time, I had a feeling a proposal was coming up soon but with my birthday plans being a public outing and the holidays booked up with our parents I couldn't figure out when he might pop the question so I just put the thought aside. Meanwhile, Sol was plotting (as always) and had everything planned out to propose on my birthday. On the monday before my birthday, I was on my way home from work as usual. Keep in mind I had a very stressful day at work and traffic was terrible coming home! I was on the phone with Sol and he told me he would have dinner cooking by the time I got home and would take care of me after such a long day of work. I was really excited because I am a complete foodie and part of the meal was going to be these delicious butter and herb noodles that I am obsessed with! SO, eager to get home and practically drooling over the thought of pasta, I finally arrived home! When I walked through the front door the first thing I saw was an EMPTY KITCHEN AND NO BUTTER AND HERB NOODS. I was about to lose it! Naturally I turned the corner to go rip him a new one and I was immediately shocked to find him all dressed up and handsome and on one knee. My emotions went all over the place from "Where are my noods?!" to "Holy ****!" Meanwhile, Sol is all red faced and nervous and told me that he was going to propose on my birthday but that he couldn't wait any longer (awww!)! Anyhow, after I ugly cried and pulled myself together we went to eat dinner and called it a night!
